WordPress freelancer in Stuttgart for engineering firms and suppliers
I move the websites of engineering firms and suppliers from WordPress to fast websites on which each product has its own page, with its values in plain text for buyers and AI assistants. Each page leads a visitor to the next step: a quote request, a sample order or a call. Let's talk about your needs in a free 30-minute video call.
What I take care of for your catalog
-
Experience with data-heavy sites
For more than twenty years I have designed websites and their databases and challenged structures that no longer fit. Your buyers come first: the values they filter by shape the new site.
-
One record per product
Each product is one record, and its page, its table and its structured data are generated from it. A value changes in one place, and every page that shows it follows.
-
Values that assistants can quote
The specifications stand as text in the HTML of each product page. When a buyer asks an AI assistant for a part, the assistant can read your values and link to your page.
-
Quote requests on the product page
I built order funnels for online shops of Lidl and REWE and worked on their conversion rates. On your product pages the quote request sits next to the values.
-
Projects on site in Stuttgart
I live in Frankfurt and work for projects on site in Stuttgart, Esslingen, Ludwigsburg and Böblingen. I work in German and English.
Why product data outgrows a WordPress site
On many supplier sites the same product lives in three places: a table on the page, a PDF datasheet and the ERP. WordPress keeps them apart, so after a few years a part has one value on the page, another in the datasheet and a third in the price list, and a buyer finds the wrong one.
The tables are often typed by hand into a page builder or a table plugin. Some sites run WooCommerce as a catalog without a checkout and carry a whole shop’s plugins for a list of parts. Filter plugins often draw their rows with JavaScript after the page has loaded. None of the AI crawlers that Vercel examined in December 2024, among them those of OpenAI, Anthropic and Perplexity, ran JavaScript (Vercel). A buyer who asks an assistant for a supplier of a bearing with a given bore gets an answer without your table in it.
A website generated from one product data set
The new site is built from one data set, and every product page is generated from it. Each product is a record with the fields your buyers search by: part number, material, dimensions, tolerance, connection, whatever your catalog names. The build turns each record into a page with the values in an HTML table, the datasheet as a download and structured data that names the product, its maker and its properties.
The data set is filled from an ERP export, a spreadsheet or an interface, and it is the only place where a value is kept. A record without a unit or a picture fails the build and never reaches the site. A file at /llms.txt lists the product pages for AI assistants and is written anew with each release.
Where a site needs more than pages, the pages stay static and the rest runs next to them on Symfony, Laravel or Node.js with a database: a configurator, a dealer login with customer-specific prices, or a stock query against the ERP. The assessment shows which of these your site needs.
Where product data sits in WordPress and where it goes
The table lists the places where WordPress sites keep product data, what replaces each one and what a buyer notices. You can use it to take stock of your own site before we talk.
| In WordPress today | On the new site | What a buyer notices |
|---|---|---|
| Rows typed into a table plugin | Rows generated from the product record | The value on the page matches the datasheet |
| PDF datasheets in the media library | The PDF for download, its values as text on the page | An assistant can quote a value and link to the page |
| WooCommerce as a catalog without a checkout | Product pages with a quote request | Fewer clicks between the part and the inquiry |
| A custom post type with extra fields per product | A product collection with required fields | No product without a unit or a picture |
| Category pages of the theme | A static page per category and attribute | A search for material and size lands on a list |
| Filters drawn by a script | Filter results as HTML pages, a script only to narrow them | Google and AI crawlers read every result |
| Product pictures in several sizes | Pictures named after the product, old files forwarded | Links from image search and distributors still arrive |
Who I am
I am Michael Wutzke, an IT architect for data platforms in Frankfurt with more than twenty years in IT and media. I hold a technical diploma in mechanical engineering, and before 1996 I worked for an engineering office in network technology. In projects since 2017 I put an Elasticsearch search in front of a real estate database, and its users reached millions of records within milliseconds. I hold the AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification and moved this site off WordPress with Claude as coding agent. Besides Claude I work with Codex, and I am interested in open-source AI models that a supplier can run on its own servers. Details: Background.
How the move of your product site runs
-
Free video call
In 30 minutes we look at your site and at where your product data lives today: in page tables, in PDF datasheets or in your ERP.
-
Assessment of site and data
We go through product pages, datasheets, inquiry forms and plugins together and write down what the new site has to do.
-
Quote and order
You receive a quote for the migration and the product data model. The work starts when you accept it.
-
Data model first
The products get one data set with the fields your buyers search by. It is filled from your export, and the product pages are generated from it at a test address.
-
Pages, datasheets and forwarding
The remaining pages and posts move with their pictures and downloads. Each old address of a product, a PDF or a picture gets its new place.
-
Switch and handover
The new site goes live, the old addresses forward, and the old WordPress goes offline. From then on your team or your AI agent updates the data set, and the pages follow.
Questions companies ask
Our product data lives in the ERP. Can the website use it?
Yes. An export from the ERP, a spreadsheet or an interface fills the data set of the site. A static site is rebuilt after each export; a site on a framework with a database can read the data directly.
What happens to our PDF datasheets?
They stay available for download, and their old addresses forward to the new place. The values a buyer searches for also stand as text on the product page, so search engines and AI assistants find them without opening the PDF.
Will our product pages lose their Google rankings?
Each old address forwards permanently to its new page, including the picture files in the sizes WordPress created. Rankings can shift for a few weeks after any switch. I test the forwarding on the live domain and watch the searches for your products with you.
Which technologies do you use?
That depends on what the site has to do. Product pages, categories and posts I build with Astro and deliver as static HTML. A configurator, a dealer login or customer-specific prices run on Symfony or Laravel with a database, or on Node.js with Next.js when the frontend is built in React.
Can our sales team change product texts without a developer?
Yes. Your own AI agent changes texts and values on request, under rules you set, and a person approves each change before it goes live. A check in the build stops a product that lacks a unit or a picture.
Do you come to Stuttgart?
Yes, for the meetings that work better in one room, such as the assessment, at your office in Stuttgart, Esslingen, Ludwigsburg or Böblingen. I live in Frankfurt, and the rest of the work runs remotely. I take migrations on as freelance projects.
