    I help a client break up a monolithic platform with Claude and Codex. The work has produced more than 300 RESTful API endpoints and more than 8,000 commits.

  • Cloud from the account up

    I am a certified AWS Solutions Architect Associate and have run AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, including a migration with failover.

  • IT leadership

    I was Head of Decentralized Finance and Node Operations, then CIO, at a Frankfurt fintech, with a team, a budget and procuration. Before I held leadership roles as IT Team Lead and Managing Director.

  • Empathy and resilience

    As a manager I put myself in my colleagues' shoes and learn who does what best with whom. When plans change or a system fails, I stay calm and keep the team able to work.

  • Based in Frankfurt

    I live in Frankfurt and work for projects on site in Mainz, Wiesbaden, Darmstadt, Offenbach and Eschborn as well. I work in German and English.

What an IT architect does in your company

An IT architect decides how systems, data and cloud services fit together, and writes the decisions down so a team can build on them. In my work that includes the first version of the code: I design an API, build it with AI coding agents under written rules, and hand over a system the team can run.

My architecture work, newest first

  • Since April 2026: the transformation of a client’s platform. We break up the monolithic application with Claude and Codex; the work has produced more than 300 RESTful API endpoints and more than 8,000 commits. The rules the agents work under are described on AI agents under the same rules as humans.
  • 2022 to October 2024: at the Frankfurt-based company Blocksize Capital, first Head of DeFi and Node Operations, then CIO from January 2023. I ran blockchain nodes and an oracle price-data network in several data centers and moved them from Azure to another cloud with failover. In summer 2022 I built, with colleagues, a real-time market data product delivered over WebSocket and RPC.
  • 2016 to 2021: at Policen Direkt, an insurance manager in Angular, life insurance portals, and AWS infrastructure in Frankfurt and London from 2018.
  • 2011 to 2016: front ends, back ends, order funnels and payment connections of online shops for Lidl and REWE.

Who I am

I am Michael Wutzke. I have worked in IT and media for more than twenty years, as an employee and as a consultant. I teach practical work with Claude at Claude Hacker House and build software with Claude and Codex, and I am interested in open-source AI models that a company runs on its own servers.
