What a Head of Digital Assets does in Frankfurt

A Head of Digital Assets builds a company’s business with crypto assets and represents it in industry committees. A Frankfurt ad for the title asks for at least five years with digital assets and distributed ledger technology, and for very good German and English. I was Chief Information Officer at the Frankfurt-based company Blocksize Capital, which sells institutional investors the infrastructure to analyze, trade and manage digital assets.

Six documents of a digital asset data product

In 2023 I helped write or design these documents for a crypto market data product. A Head of Digital Assets meets them on both sides, as seller of a product and as buyer of data and services. The right-hand column is my view of who at the customer reads each one.

The clauses had to hold legally and stay readable, because compliance decides whether a bank or an asset manager may use the product.

My digital asset work, newest first

• Since January 2026: Editor at Business Punk. I write on digital assets, blockchains and crypto investing, regularly in the investment special Anlage Punk.
• 2024: expert member of the DTIF Product Advisory Committee from May, and member of the Bitcoin Bundesverband from its founding in Berlin. In April I organized a Chainlink panel in Frankfurt as pre-event to the Crypto Assets Conference.
• January 2023 to October 2024: Chief Information Officer at Blocksize Capital, with procuration from May 2023. In October 2023 I attended DACOM EU in Paris, a conference on MiCA and the regulation of crypto markets.
• 2022: Head of Decentralized Finance and Node Operations at the same company. In summer 2022 I created the market data product with colleagues.

Who I am

I am Michael Wutzke. I have worked in IT and media for more than twenty years, and banks appear throughout that time: I worked for Dresdner Bank early on, built websites for banks as a freelancer and took part in annual reports for Deutsche Bank.
