SEO freelancer in Frankfurt Rhine-Main who works in your website's code

I am an IT expert for data platforms in Frankfurt, and I build websites myself. As an SEO freelancer I check how search engines read your company website. Then I change its code, its page structure, its structured data and its text. Each service page leads a searcher to one next step: a purchase, a contact request or a call. I take this on as a freelancer or as a permanent employee, remote or on site in Frankfurt Rhine-Main. Book a 30-minute video call. We look at your task, and you find out whether I can help.

What I do for your website in search

  • Experience with websites and search

I have built websites for more than twenty years and have worked on search engine optimization for more than ten. The searches your buyers type decide which pages your site needs.

  • One person for code and copy

I change the templates, the page structure and the text myself. A finding does not wait as a ticket in a developer's queue.

  • Measured on my own machine

A crawler on my laptop reads the pages of your site, and Lighthouse runs locally for speed. You see the numbers before the first change and after the last one.

  • Structured data that matches the page

I write JSON-LD that names your company, your services and your region. It states the same facts as the visible text on the page.

  • Texts that found readers

I was editor in chief of an information portal on Frankfurt's skyline and wrote many of its articles. By January 2024 the portal reached more than one million readers a year.

  • Based in Frankfurt

I live in Frankfurt and meet clients in Offenbach, Wiesbaden, Mainz and Darmstadt as well. I work in German and English.

A company website gets few visitors from search for two reasons. A crawler cannot read its pages cleanly, or no page answers the search a buyer types. Both causes show up in data you can measure.

The technical causes sit in the code. A page forwards three times before it loads. Two addresses carry the same text. One title tag repeats across dozens of pages. A service description arrives through a script after the page has loaded. A crawler reads a website as data, and when the data contradicts itself, it has to guess which page counts.

The content causes sit in the page structure. A firm that lists six services on one page answers six searches with a single page. A buyer in Hanau who types a service and the town needs a page that names both.

One person for the findings and the fixes

SEO work often splits in two. A consultant writes a report, and a developer builds the changes later. I do both parts. When I find a fault, I fix it in the template, the page structure or the text.

I have built websites for more than twenty years, from order funnels of online shops to this site. Today Claude and Codex write much of the code under rules that a machine checks before each change. My part is the page structure, the data behind it and the review of each result.

The first week on your site

In the first week I check your site against the table below. Each row is one check, the way I test it and what your company gets from it.

CheckHow I test itWhat you get
CrawlA crawler on my laptop fetches each page it can reach from the home pageA list of your pages with status code, title and word count
Robots and sitemapI compare robots.txt and the XML sitemap with the crawlPages that are blocked by mistake or missing from the sitemap
ForwardingsI follow each forwarding to its last addressChains and loops replaced by a single step
DuplicatesI group pages by title, description and main textOne address per content, with a canonical link on the copies
Titles and descriptionsI read them next to the search each page should answerA title and a description for each service page
Internal linksI count the links that lead to each pageService pages the site links to, and no page without a link
SpeedLighthouse runs locally with phone and desktop settingsLargest Contentful Paint and layout shift per template, before and after
Structured dataI read the JSON-LD and compare it with the visible textMarkup for your company, services and questions that matches the page
PicturesI check file names, alt texts and file sizesPictures whose names and alt texts say what they show
Searches per pageI list the searches your buyers type and match each to one pageA map of searches and pages, with gaps and overlaps marked
RegionI check whether service pages name the towns you servePages for buyers who search with a town in Rhine-Main

The table describes the site as a crawler meets it. It says nothing about the position a page will reach. It lists the faults I can fix.

Search work I have done

At an insurance group in Frankfurt I built the web portals and ran their conversion optimization. From 2016 to 2021 I managed more than 100 top-level domains for the group. For a current client I optimize the website of a platform for search, conversions and agent readiness.

Next to the project work I took courses on link building, A/B testing and conversion optimization. This site is my own test case. It is a static Astro build that delivers its text in plain HTML, with JSON-LD in its pages.

Who I am

I am Michael Wutzke, an IT expert for data platforms in Frankfurt. I have spent more than twenty years from code to CIO in finance, e-commerce and real estate, with cloud platforms and data centers. Today AI agents speed up how I build and transform data platforms and websites. I hold the Google Analytics and the Google Mobile Sites certifications, and I teach practical work with Claude at Claude Hacker House.

How an SEO project runs

  1. Video call

In 30 minutes we talk about the services buyers should find you for and the system your site runs on.

  2. Look at the site together

We open your site and its main service pages together. You tell me which inquiries you want more of.

  3. Quote and order

You get a quote for the first week and for the changes after it. The work starts with your order.

  4. First week

I crawl the site and work through the table on this page. You get a list of findings, each with its cause and the change I propose.

  5. Changes

I make the changes in your system. When your IT runs the site, I write each change down for your developer and check it after the release.

  6. Second crawl

After the release I crawl the site again and compare the run with the first one. Rankings take weeks to move, and the crawl shows at once whether each fix is live.

Questions companies ask

Can you promise us a first place on Google?

No. Google sets the order of its results, and its systems change. I remove the faults on your site that I can measure, and I build pages that answer the searches your buyers type.

What does a technical SEO audit cover?

It covers what a crawler meets on your site: status codes, forwardings, duplicate pages, titles, internal links, speed and structured data. The table on this page lists each check with the way I test it.

Do we need a new website to rank better?

Usually not. Titles, forwardings, internal links and structured data can change in most systems. When a system loads its text only through JavaScript, or cannot set a title per page, a move to a new system can pay off.

Do you write the texts too?

Yes. I write service pages from the searches your buyers type and from facts you give me. You check each text before it goes live.

Which tools do you use?

A crawler that runs on my laptop, Lighthouse run locally, and the analytics your site already has, such as Google Analytics or Matomo. Claude and Codex write much of the code for the changes under rules a machine checks, and I review the result.

Does this work make us visible in ChatGPT as well?

Part of it does. Text in the HTML and one page per service help both. What ChatGPT and Google's AI Overviews say about a company is a neighboring topic with its own audit.
