What a Head of Product in fintech does

A Head of Product in fintech owns what the company builds for its customers, from the vision and the roadmap to the specifications and the launch. In market data and digital assets, job ads add a data strategy across centralized and decentralized exchanges, and specifications that legal and compliance teams can work with. I held product responsibility at the Frankfurt-based company Blocksize Capital, first as Head of Decentralized Finance and Node Operations, then as Chief Information Officer.

What a buyer checks in a crypto price feed

Institutional buyers of market data ask how a price came about before they sign. These are the questions the product I built in 2022 had to answer, and what answered each one.

My product work, newest first

• Since April 2026: AI engineer in a client’s platform transformation. I help break up a monolithic application with Claude and Codex; the work has produced more than 300 RESTful API endpoints and more than 8,000 commits.
• January 2023 to October 2024: Chief Information Officer at Blocksize Capital, responsible for the product vision through to the launch of financial products and for the documents in the table above.
• 2022: the real-time market data product, from concept to onboarded institutional customers.
• 2016 to 2021: at Policen Direkt, a digital insurance manager in which thousands of customers upload and manage their policies, and life insurance portals, run with Scrum and Jira.
• 2011 to 2016: order funnels and payment connections for the online shops of Lidl and REWE, with their conversion optimization.

Who I am

I am Michael Wutzke. I have worked in IT and media for more than twenty years. I hold a technical diploma in mechanical engineering, and instead of machines I now build applications and the products around them.
