Web developer in Nuremberg for WooCommerce shops

I move online shops that outgrew WooCommerce to a fast shop system that keeps the old product addresses, the customer accounts and the order history. Prices and variants stand in the HTML, where Google and AI assistants read them. Each product page leads a visitor to one next step: the purchase. Let's talk about your needs in a free 30-minute video call.

What I take care of for your shop

  • Shop experience

For more than twenty years I have designed websites and online shops and challenged setups that slowed customers down. I start with your buyers: how they search and pay decides the new shop.

  • Checkout and payment

I programmed order funnels and payment connections to PayPal, WorldPay and Amazon Pay, among others for shops of Lidl and REWE. Your new checkout asks only for what an order needs.

  • Rankings of product pages

Each old product, category and picture address forwards permanently to its new page. Links from comparison sites and customers' bookmarks still land on the right product.

  • Customers and orders

Customer accounts and order history move with the shop, so a returning customer finds past orders. Your invoice numbers continue without a gap.

  • Projects on site in Nuremberg

I live in Frankfurt and work for projects on site in Nuremberg, Fürth and Erlangen. I work in German and English.

When a shop outgrows WooCommerce

WooCommerce turns WordPress into a shop through plugins, and a growing shop adds one plugin per need: payment, shipping, invoices, variants, prices for business customers. Each plugin has its own update cycle, and any one of them can break the checkout.

WooCommerce sites also pass Google’s Core Web Vitals less often than hosted shops. In the Web Almanac 2025, 35 percent of WooCommerce sites passed them on mobile, against 76 percent of Shopify sites (Web Almanac 2025, e-commerce chapter). Signs that a shop has grown past its setup:

  • The admin slows down as orders pile up.
  • The checkout takes seconds to answer during a campaign.
  • Updates wait because nobody knows which plugin breaks what.
  • Filters and variant pickers are drawn by scripts, so crawlers that do not run JavaScript see an empty list.

What the new shop runs on

A shop needs a database, customer logins and payment, so it runs on a framework built for that, and the content pages can stay static next to it. Which framework fits depends on your catalog, your payment providers, the connection to your merchandise management and who maintains the shop afterward. The assessment settles it.

Each product page carries its name, price, availability and variant values in the HTML and as structured data for products, so Google and AI assistants read them without running a script. The checkout follows the rules I applied to order funnels at Valentins: the next step is visible on the first screen, and the form has no field that the order does not need. What moves from WooCommerce, and how

The table lists the data of a WooCommerce shop, where it goes in the new shop and what to watch. Go through it for your own shop before our call; it shows which rows apply to you.

Who I am

I am Michael Wutzke, an IT architect for data platforms in Frankfurt with more than twenty years in IT and media. From 2011 to 2016 I was project lead and developer at Valentins, then owned by Burda Digital, and programmed the front ends and back ends of at least five e-commerce sites, among them shops for Lidl and REWE. The news channel n-tv named Valentins the best online shop for ordering convenience. I have built websites with WordPress since 2016, have run sites on WooCommerce, and hold the Google Analytics certification and the AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification. How the move of your shop runs

  1. Free video call

In 30 minutes we look at your shop, its plugins and the points where it slows down or breaks.

  2. Assessment together

We go through catalog, variants, payment, shipping, taxes, the connection to your merchandise management and each plugin, and decide what the new shop has to do.

  3. Quote and order

You receive a quote for the migration. The work starts once you accept it.

  4. Test shop with your data

The new shop runs at a test address with a copy of your products, customers and orders. Test orders go through every payment method before anything changes for your customers.

  5. Switch at a quiet hour

We pick a time with few orders. The shop goes live, the old addresses forward, and the orders from the last hours of the old shop are carried over.

  6. Handover

Your team or your AI agent maintains products and pages from then on. I show the workflow in your own shop.

Questions companies ask

Why not keep WooCommerce and rent a faster server?

A faster server helps when the server is the bottleneck. When the plugins are, every update stays a risk for the checkout. The assessment shows which of the two holds for your shop.

Can customers log in with their old password?

In most setups, yes: the new shop checks the old WordPress password at the first login and then stores it in its own format. Where that does not work, customers set a new password through a link.

What happens to our Google rankings?

Each product, category and picture address forwards permanently to its new page, and the product texts move word for word. Rankings can still move for some weeks after a switch. I check the forwarding on the live domain and watch the searches for your products with you.

Which technologies do you use?

A shop needs a database, logins and payment, so it runs on a framework: Symfony or Laravel with a database, or Node.js with Next.js when the frontend is built in React. Guides, the blog and other content pages can be static HTML from Astro next to the shop.

Do you come to Nuremberg?

Yes, for the assessment and other meetings that work better in one room, in Nuremberg, Fürth or Erlangen. I live in Frankfurt, and the rest of the work runs remotely. I take shop migrations on as freelance projects.
